How do I find out your availability and rates? Head over to the CONTACT page and send us a message.

If you are available on my date, how do I reserve Skylark Music?

We require a nonrefundable deposit to reserve your date and time. We accept checks, Venmo, Zelle, and Pay Pal.

What kinds of events do you play? We're up for just about anything, but our specialties are wedding ceremonies and receptions, corporate events, or any event where well-curated background music is needed.

Can you play my favorite song? Yes! Especially for wedding ceremonies, we want to tailor-fit the music as much as possible. We just like to have a couple weeks to get an arrangement together, so make sure to give us notice.

What kind of music can you play? We pride ourselves in being stylistically versatile. With Justin's vocal and multi-instrumental talents and Jesse's flexible piano and keyboard playing, we can play anything from traditional jazz, to classical, to rock, to folk with authenticity. Please note, though, that while some people might like dancing to our music, we're not a full-on dance band. If you want a dance party, Justin can DJ.

What kinds of ensembles are available? We often play as a duo with Jesse on piano and/or keyboard and Justin on various instruments and vocals. Jesse and Justin can both play solo for a more pared down approach. We can also add musicians such as bass, drums, violin, cello, etc. There can be different ensembles for the ceremony and reception, for example, we could play as a duo for the ceremony, then add drums and bass for the reception. Check out the MUSIC page for some samples. We know and play with a huge network of excellent musicians who would be happy to play your event.

Do you have a PA? Yes, we can provide a PA for a small upcharge. And yes, the wedding officiant can use it, too. And if Justin DJs, that PA can be used for toasts, etc.

Do you play receptions? We aren’t a dance band, but if you want mellow music for your reception we can play that. Or Justin can DJ an epic dance party.

I have a friend who I’d like to sing during the ceremony. Will you accompany a singer? Yes, we can accompany a singer. We may require a rehearsal with them, which would be an upcharge.

How do we select the music to be played? For wedding ceremonies, you might have very specific requests and we'll do our best to accommodate those, with as much consultation as you need. For background music situations, you tell us what kind of instruments and genres you want, and we'll carefully choose a tasteful setlist. We can provide a repertoire list to give you an idea. Special song requests welcome! If Justin DJs he can work with you to make a playlist. You can choose as many songs as you like, and Justin can fill in the rest with something in a similar vibe.

When will you arrive for my wedding? In most circumstances (wedding ceremonies for example) we will arrive to setup approximately 30-45 minutes before we begin playing. You are not charged for this set up time. Our fee begins when you’ve requested the pre-ceremony background music for the seating of your guests. If we relocate after the ceremony to a different location our fee continues for the travel and 2nd set up. If the music starts in the middle of the event and we need to set up beforehand, arrangements can be made.

Do you need to attend our rehearsal? Except for some special circumstances, no. We are able to review the cues that we need the day of your wedding with your officiant prior to the ceremony. We often provide music during rehearsal dinners and for Sunday brunches after weddings, so please ask about our discounted fee for other wedding related events.
